Week 3, Term 2

Meet the teacher afternoon

On Thursday 7th May we would like to invite family, caregivers and friends for a meet the teacher afternoon.  This an opportunity for us all to get together, ask questions, arrange one on one meeting times (if you have concerns).  I will talk you through our class programme, home learning and our reporting to parents timeline for the year.  We will start at 3.30.  If you are unable to attend and would like to make a time to meet please call the office.

Room 2 notices

Just a few things to think about

·         Please provide your child with a named OLD t-shirt/shirt for art class. 
·         No toys at school .
·         Book bags EVERY DAY.
·         Spelling tests are on Friday.
·         Your child can collect points in class and may win a treasure.
·         Remember to check home learning books

Writing – we are focusing on reading through our writing and making sure it makes sense




Maths- we are learning our basic facts to 10 and 20.


Reading  - you will need to read with your child every night and sign the book log.  Please bring the book bag every day.


Spelling – please practise the spelling words.  If your child knows the whole set move on to the next set.

Reading Rocket

We are working really hard on our reading.  Next week some children will e getting moved onto a new level.  We may find it tricky but if we read as much as we can it will get easier and easier.

What do we do when we are stuck?

Shaun –    Ask the teacher for help.
                 Ask the students for help.
Connie -   If you can’t spell a word sound it out, look for word sources around the room and in your books. (Hong Ly)
Aurora -    Use equipment in the room.
Millie -      Ask an expert in the class.
Millie -      Practise
Karalise - Read a book and research.

Jack-         Keep trying.

Home learning

Please take the time to read over our Maths term overview and helpful hints to help your child at home with their reading and writing.  We are going to have a very busy term and we are really grateful for any extra support you can do to help build on all the fantastic new learning. 
 
Room 2 notices

·         Meet the new teacher get together afternoon/evening will be coming up and a notice will go home with times and venue.

On a personal note….  I am absolutely loving Room 2 and the students are so wonderful!  Thank you for giving me the opportunity to be their teacher and work with you on their learning journey.
